RUMBA Student Participants

Our program is two years old.  Our third cohort will begin research activities in June 2006.

RUMBA 2004 Participants

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our first cohort consisted of four San Jose State University students, and two students from Southwest Community College, Chula Vista CA.

Social Activities

Science is a social enterprise. We have taken our students to Alcatraz, to San Francisco, and to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  We have shared birthday celebrations, concerts, dance lessons, dinners, and films.

 

RUMBA 2005 Participants

Our second cohort consisted of three San Jose State University students, two students from Southwest Community College, and one from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, TX.

SACNAS National Conference

SACNAS (Society for the Advancements of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science) is an inclusive organization with a goal of increasing minority and female participation in research careers and graduate education.  Our participants have obtained scholarships to attend the national conference and have presented their research in a poster format.  Four of our participants have obtained awards at the SACNAS undergraduate poster competition.
