Department Scholarships

The Department of Biological Sciences has a number of small ($200 to $1000) single-year scholarships available to matriculated students. Biodiversity Center Scholarships

The Biodiversity Center also has several scholarships for conservation ecology and biodiversity majors in the Biological Sciences. The Michael Lee Scholarship for Biodiversity Conservation application and recommendation form are now available from the following links and are due April 3, 2009.

President's Scholars

The is a new scholarship program targeting outstanding high school students. There are currently up to five of these scholarships awarded annually. One of these scholarships, The Laurie and Betty Davison President's Scholars in the Life Sciences, is designated for students who wish to major in biology or biochemistry. Students selected for the program receive payment for tuition, fees, books, and are provided with free on-campus housing. For each, a member of the SJSU faculty serves as mentor. After the first year, president's scholars can renew their scholarship for up to three additional years as long as they remain enrolled full-time and maintain a specified grade point average. Students eligible for president's scholar awards include national merit scholars, national merit finalists, and high school valedictorians. Additional scholarships may be available for students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership potential or creative talent.
