Julio G. Soto, Ph.D.
My primary goal as a teacher
is to make biology exciting and engaging to all students while trying to encourage
the development of critical thinking skills. My syllabi (Green sheets), teaching style and my exams reflect my teaching
goals and philosophy. My exams contain essay questions requiring the student to
think critically and incorporate or synthesize learned information. Written communication
skills are essential in the competitive workforce of today and most employers in
high technology fields seek prospective employees who can think critically and independently.
I use workshops and case studies as participatory activities that supplement lectured
material and involve students actively in their learning.
