We use systems biology approaches along with classical genetic and biochemical techniques to understand the metabolic capacity of Methylobacterium extorquens in order to engineer these organisms to produce value added chemicals like biofuel from methanol.

    Molecular and genetic mechanisms by which neurons identify the correct partners and form appropriate synaptic connections during the development of the nervous system. We study the genetic model organism C. elegans, a microscopic (~1 mm long) nematode (roundworm), the only organism for which a complete synaptic connectivity map has been generated.
